The construction of the shipyards in Castellamare di Stabia was built and inaugurated at the time of the Bourbons. Due to its size, it quickly became the largest naval establishment in Italy. In this watercolor Consalvo Carelli dedicates himself both to the surrounding landscape - in particular to the erupting Vesuvius which forms the backdrop to the scene - and to the characters who live there, offering us a meticulous and detailed postcard of both nature and the surrounding environment.
