TIMED ONLINE AUCTION
CONTEMPORARY AFRICAN ART

ONLINE CATALOGUE
www.blindarte.com
lot deadlines: February 3-12

At this time of recovery in the art market, contemporary African art is undergoing a season of consolidation, confirming itself as a vibrant sector for particularly attractive investments, with easy forecasts of global growth.

In this revaluation scenario, BLINDARTE presents its timed online auction of Contemporary African Art, offering a catalog that includes a selection of works with low estimates that represent excellent investment opportunities.

The lots, paintings, drawings, sculptures, and photographs included in the catalog, available online at www.blindarte.com, have deferred deadlines between February 3rd and 12th and are representative works by some particularly well-known and appreciated contemporary African artists on the market, as well as a selection of works by Italian and international artists that hark back to the African continent.

Among the artists included we highlight Esther Mahlangu, a South African artist of international importance. He is famous for his abstract paintings, characterized by bold geometric patterns and bright colors, created both on canvas and on objects of various kinds such as ceramic vases, woven beads and sculptures. His artistic production is deeply rooted in the tradition of the Ndebele people from which he comes. The artist's works proposed in this catalogue are a typical Ndebele painting on canvas from 2002 (estimate 3,500/5,000€), a series of colorful beaded bracelets, proposed in pairs, some objects forming part of a table set including a beautiful hand-painted plate, cups, glasses and an original Ndebele costume, a typical garment of the artist and often worn by her, made of fabric and beads.

Another notable artist included in this auction is Frédéric Bruly Bouabré. The Ivorian author, a great friend of our own Alighiero Boetti, whose influence is easily discernible, represents one of the most significant figures in contemporary African art since the Second World War, distinguishing himself not only for his visual productions, often created on small painted cardboard, but also for his important contributions to fields such as poetry, philosophy, and nonfiction. Among the various works proposed here we can mention a single batch composed of 12 cards made in 2002 entitled "L'Afrique et ses rituels: l'initiation des grands guerriers" (estimate 1,000/1,500€); a folder of 13 pen and pencil drawings on paper entitled "Mon Objectif, La Connaissance du Monde..." made in 1979 and bound inside the "Abraxas" vinyl case of the Santanas of 1970 (estimate 500/700€).

Also included in the catalogue is a pair of eight cards hand-painted in 1996 by Stephen Kappata (estimate 1,000/1,500€ each). The Zambian artist is known for a style characterized by the use of bright colors and for the figures constantly depicted in profile. His works explore themes related to Zambian culture, colonialism and various social issues.

The catalogue is enriched by sculptures by Reinata Sadimba (estimate 800/1,000€), a Mozambican ceramist whose works draw inspiration from the Makonde ceramic tradition; the works of Mikidadi Bush, a Tanzanian painter and sculptor, as well as Kivuthi Mbuno and Eloi Lokossou, artists who work primarily through painting and wooden sculpture.

And then again the canvas and panel paintings of Henry James, Maurus Malikita, Leonard Ngure, Engdaget Legesse, Joseph Lyombo and the photographs of Ousmane Ndiaye Dago, a Senegalese artist and a leading figure in contemporary African photography.

Among the works by Italian and international artists that refer to the African continent, we cannot fail to mention the great work created in 2010, consisting of no. 6 canvases depicting the map of the African continent in various colors, each 100x100 cm, created by Domenico Di Genni (estimate 1,200/1,600€). The artist's painting was profoundly shaped by his years in Kenya and Tanzania in contact with tribal communities, which left an indelible mark on his work.

Among the artists included in this auction we find two drawings on paper by Franco Bratta, a photograph by Salvino Campos, Jorge Pardo and Umberto Di Lazzaro.

All the lots entered are presented to the public with a comprehensive description, detailed images, an indication of the estimate and expiration date of each lot.
