AUCTION RESULTS | NOVEMBER 27th - Press

The recent BLINDARTE auctions on November 27, 2025, achieved excellent results, with some particularly significant sales confirming the auction house's positive trend, particularly in modern and contemporary art.

Among the most significant results of auction no. 118 of Modern and Contemporary Art was Giorgio de Chirico's important Self-Portrait of the Clouds, 1948 (sold for €173,500), published in the "General Catalogue of Works from 1931 to 1950." In this work, de Chirico employs the device of antique clothing to enhance the composition's allure. Indeed, de Chirico portrays himself as a timeless figure, transfiguring himself into an image suspended between past and present.
Also noteworthy was the sale of a work by Jannis Kounellis from the Sprovieri Gallery in London, crafted from glass bottles, a steel panel, steel cables, steel hooks, and a jute sack. It fully embodies the core principles of the artist's research, one of the founding fathers of Arte Povera. The work was sold to the highest bidder for €85,000. Not to be forgotten is Mario Schifano's Programma Notturno (Notturno Program) from 1972 (sold for €75,000, from an estimate of €50,000-70,000), a large diptych of nitro enamel on emulsion canvas, the product of a period when the artist worked in a studio crowded with dozens of televisions, always turned off, inundating the visual space with a constant stream of images.
And then there's Giorgio Morandi's 1928 Still Life (sold for €43,750, from an estimate of €30,000-40,000), a high-quality pencil drawing clearly influenced by the artist's renowned engraving practice. In this work, registered with the Morandi Catalogue Committee, the engraver's eye shines through in the precision of his strokes and his ability to modulate chiaroscuro, creating effects of light and depth on paper that closely resemble those achieved through engraving. Not to be overlooked is the internationally renowned Argentine artist Leandro Erlich's 2007 Cadres dorés, which sold for €18,750. The orange cover by the Bertozzi&Casoni duo also achieved an excellent result (sold for €11,875), a tribute to Lucio Fontana's famous cuts through the skillful use of polychrome ceramic.
Salvatore Emblema performed well, selling for €8,125 from an estimate of €5,000-7,000. Antonio Corpora also performed well, selling for €7,825 for his Approdo nel Mare Ionio (1975), Dinamica circolare 9BN ø 50, 1969-2025 by Marina Apollonio (sold for €17,500), Negativo-Positivo (1975) by Bruno Munari (sold for €8,750), and Mediterraneo (Mediterraneo) by the recently deceased great Neapolitan photographer Mimmo Jodice (sold for €6,625). And then there were the photographs by Cindy Sherman and Douglas Gordon. Excellent performance also for the works of Carlo Levi (his Portrait of Paolo Ricci starting from an estimate of €800/€1,200 was sold for €1,300), Carmelina di Capri (his view of Capri was sold for €2,340 starting from an estimate of €800/€1,200), Edgardo Curcio (his Seascape was sold for €1,235 starting from an estimate of €600/€800), Paolo Ricci (The 1948 procession starting from an estimate of €1,200/€1,800 was sold for €2,000), Antonio Scordia (both tempera paintings were sold for €1,560 each starting from an estimate of €700/€1,000) and Herbert Hamak (his resin and wood sculpture starting from an estimate of €1,560). €3,000/€4,000 was awarded for €5,875).
Excellent results were also achieved by artists Emilio Notte, Armando De Stefano, Carlo Alfano, Carmine di Ruggiero, Nino Longobardi, Bruno di Bello, and Gianni Pisani. Good results were also achieved by works by Sandro Chia, Valerio Adami, Salvo, Mario Sironi, Mino Maccari, Hermann Nitsch, Claudio Verna, Claudio Olivieri, and Vettor Pisani. The final section of the catalog also saw excellent results for works by Evan Nesbit, Ra Di Martino, Pierluigi Pusole, Karin Davie, Alberto Scodro, Jonathan Guaitamacchi, Vedovamazzei, Luigi Presicce, Bernardo Siciliano, Ubaldo Bartolini, and many others.

In auction no. 117 of Nativity Scene Sculptures, Porcelains, Old Masters, and 19th-Century Paintings, the most significant sale was Mattia Preti's important oil on canvas, housed in an antique carved and gilded wooden frame, depicting Saint Paul the Hermit (sold for €106,000). Also not to be overlooked is the Madonna and Child attributed to the renowned 17th-century Neapolitan artist Massimo Stanzione, an oil on canvas mounted on an oval panel, sold for €6,250; Francesco Solimena's Salvator Mundi, a panel that is an excellent example of the artist's work intended for the private devotion of private collectors who sought a glimpse of the work of the greatest Neapolitan artist of his time (sold for €6,250); and The Return of the Prodigal Son, an oil on canvas from the Lombard School from the mid-17th century (sold for €5,750).
