testimony of the important applied arts of the Baroque era that ranged from the goldsmithery, silverware and sculpture (Estimated € 50,000/ 60,000). Among the paintings of the XIX century we can distinguish some works from an important and historical private collection, such as the beautiful female portrait of the Venetian painter Giacomo Favretto (estimated € 5,000/ 6,000) or the portrait of a gentleman with a moustache signed by Antonio Mancini (€ 4.000/ 5.000), or the unprecedented Procession of Francesco Paolo Michetti, probable preparatory sketch for one of the famous works of sacred subject, made
in the mature phase of the life of the painter from Abruzzo.
The nineteenth century section continues with a collection of works coming directly from from the personal collection of Lucio Jozzi, one of the most famous and cultured Neapolitan collectors. Among these are two beautiful views of Salvatore Candido, a splendid and rare painting by Marco De Gregorio depicting the Wood of Portici, which was inserted already in 1877 in the National Exhibition of Naples 1877; of great importance also the work of Giuseppe De Nittis Contadino (estimated € 10,000/ 15,000) and an unprecedented landscape of Cercola signed by Gioacchino Toma (estimated € 6,000/ 8,000). The section ends with a delicate portrait of Maiden with goat, among the most beautiful works of Vincenzo Irolli, who donated it as a sign of friendship to the grandfather of the current with an interesting work of biblical subject attributed to Francesco Hayez (Estimated € 10,000 / 12,000)
The catalogue continues with the section dedicated to Ancient Paintings in which a Varied selection of works from different origins, subjects and styles. Among those of profane subject, of great importance is certainly the pair of Capricci of Leonardo Coccorante (estimated € 30,000/ 35,000). Among the sacred subjects a valuable Nativity painted on copper, probably attributed to Micco Spadaro (Estimated € 12,000 /
15.000) and a beautiful Madonna with child by Francesco De Mura (Estimated € 8.000 / 10,000)
Particularly intense and certainly of great charm the San Girolamo, of an unknown painter Caravaggio active in the seventeenth century that will not fail to arouse great interest among collectors for the obvious stylistic affinities with Ribera’s works, stimulating further insights from scholars that could lead to further intriguing discoveries about attribution. One hypothesis has already been advanced by Professor Pier
Luigi Leone De Castris with the attribution to the painter French caravaggesco Valentin De Boulogne (Estimated € 25,000/ 35,000), advanced in a detailed critical sheet that It accompanies the opera. Worthy of note also a nice group of still lifes, among these the strong point is represented by the sumptuous pair of paintings signed by Giuseppe Recco € 35,000 / 45,000, representing one of the most successful examples of collaboration between Painter and Micco Spadaro: between lush garlands of polychrome flowers and leaves intertwined are inserted the two splendid scenes of sacred life that refer to the classics
intimate compositions of Domenico Gargiulo. It should be stressed that the paintings will be inserted in the Reasoned catalogue of the works of Giuseppe Recco to be published soon.
No less interesting the two significant canvases by Giuseppe Volo, known as Vincenzino (Estimated € 30,000/ 35,000), published and exhibited on the occasion of the exhibition "Nature died in Italy" which was held at the Royal Palace in Naples already in the '60s. To mention typical and unpublished Tarantella near a village of Leonardo Coccorante (Estimate € 20,000 / 25,000).
