Scuola veneta, XVIII secolo

This work, a companion piece to the previous lot, depicts the first part of the biblical story of Genesis, when the patriarch and his two daughters are leaving the city of Sodom, escorted by the Angel sent by God to save him. They were, in fact, the only survivors of the divine destruction of the city, which was left completely uninhabited because the rest of the population, judged to be wicked and sinful, perished.
