The Giustiniani family, whose first testimonies date back to the 17th century, established, first in Cerreto Sannita and then in Naples, a true dynasty of ceramists. He found his greatest source of inspiration in the Greco-Roman decorative samples found in nearby Pompeii and Herculaneum
Naples in the 18th century, from the time of Charles of Borbone to Ferdinand I, was the main center of Italian artistic and cultural activity.

The first findings from ancient Herculaneum and Pompeii gave rise to a strong interest and curiosity towards the classical world.
