The attribution to the Lombard painter was proposed by Raffaello Causa in 1965, on the occasion of the exhibition on
Italian still life held at the Palazzo Reale in Naples, and subsequently in Zurich and Rotterdam where the
paintings were exhibited. Previously the paintings were attributed to Gaspare Lopez, (Naples 1650 - Florence 1740). Causa,
in the exhibition catalogue, writes that: “the elegant and lively composition of the two canvases shows
a great adherence to the personality of the Lombard painter; particularly evident are the affinities with the canvases of the
Kunsthistoirisches Museum in Vienna and with a similar composition of flowers signed, in the Del Bosco collection in
Poirino.”
