We are grateful to Professor Giuseppe Scavizzi for his assistance in compiling this entry.
The composition repeats the central part of the painting in Madrid at the Accademia di San Ferdinando.
The Madrid painting has a horizontal format and is larger in size. Ferrari and Scavizzi dated it to 1643, thus dating it to the first phase of the painter's stay in Spain.
