Provenance: Naples, private chapel of the former family residence; inherited by the current owners through inheritance.
The painting echoes, with minor variations, the large canvas in the Pio Monte della Misericordia Museum in Naples, produced during Francesco De Mura's mature period, around 1750.
The very firm quality of some parts and a certain weakness in others suggests that the work presented here was executed in the master's workshop, under his close supervision.
