Renato Mambor (Rome, 1936 - 2014) was one of the leading protagonists of the Scuola di piazza del Popolo in the sixties, with artists such as Mario Schifano, Giosetta Fioroni, Jannis Kounellis, Tano Festa and Franco Angeli. At the same time he also dedicated himself to cinema, participating as an interpreter in the film "La dolce vita" by Federico Fellini and other films.
As Achille Bonito Oliva writes: «Attracted by the anonymous multiplicity of the image, Mambor comes to the "samples" of men "statisticians", having reduced the matrix of the figures to stamp, then arrive at illustrations of actions and elementary verbs (walking, embracing, drying, close the door) resulting in re-appropriation of their meaning, where it is art to produce a renewed and innocent elementary learning, but through an apparent executive neutrality that stems from the refusal to consider the artist as a privileged individual in society». The two mixed techniques on canvas proposed here are a perfect example, titled respectively "Rebus" (1998) and "Anch'io" (2008).
