Neapolitan silverware has contributed significantly to the history of the entire production of Italian artistic silverware. In fact, between the 17th and 19th centuries, Naples was famous for its production of high-quality silverware. Neapolitan silversmiths were known for their excellent craftsmanship and ability to create silver artefacts that were truly very refined works of art, in an ornamental style, with rich decorations of floral motifs, mythological figures and baroque ornaments. Neapolitan silverware subsequently evolved, but the artisan tradition remained fundamental. Today there are still artisans in Naples who keep the ancient techniques alive by creating high quality pieces.
